To support Health Department, Government of Sindh in:
  1. Improving coverage and quality of essential health services.
  2. Enhancing governance and accountability.
  3. Improving health financing and public financial management.

About NHSP

The World Bank-supported National Health Support Program in Sindh is an initiative designed to strengthen the Provincial Government’s Health Department in its pursuit of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Beyond enhancing healthcare delivery, the NHSP Sindh seeks to catalyze transformative changes within the primary health care (PHC) system. It also fosters a national platform for dialogue and consensus-building, enabling federal and provincial authorities to collaboratively shape a clear vision and redesign public healthcare service delivery in Sindh. NHSP strives to strengthen the equitable provision of high-quality essential health services at the PHC level, paving the way for achieving Universal Health Coverage.

To achieve Universal Health Coverage in the context of localized Essential Package of Health Services - Primary Healthcare, the following core components are considered

Improving Quality & Equitable Coverage of Health Services (Service Delivery, Health Workforce, Medical Products, Vaccines, and Technologies).

Component – 2:

Improving Governance & Accountability (Leadership/Governance, Digitization & Automation, Health Information Systems)

Component – 3:

Strengthening Public Financing Management & Health Financing for PHC Service Delivery (Health System Financing)

Communication for Demand Creation

What We Do

System Strengthening

NHSP supports the government of Sindh to strengthen the quality of primary healthcare facilities by implementing an Essential Package of Health Services under Universal Health Coverage at provincial, district and community levels. Also, strengthening the health information system to enhance governance and accountability and financial sustainability.

Technical Assistance

NHSP provides technical assistance for strengthening the health system to implement an Essential Package of Health services for achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Capacity Building

To enhance the capacity for coordination, monitoring and evaluation as well as strategy development at all levels. NHSP gives training to health teams so that their skills are better utilized. Through this planning, financial allocations will also be improved.

Communication

NHSP engages the community through advocacy and communication campaigns at provincial, district and community levels, so that the health services are fully utilized and further demand is created.
